What Is It?

Intermittent fasting is currently becoming popular and trendy as a way to keep fit and enjoy good health by following a simpler eating lifestyle. This type of fasting is characterized by a cycle of periods of fasting and eating. Rather than tell you what foods you can eat, intermittent fasting will tell you when you should eat them. This way, it may not be considered as dieting since it does not involve chosen food types to it. Rather, it can be more appropriately considered as an eating pattern instead. 55

The Basics

Intermittent fasting is more of a pattern of eating, trying to consume the needed calories at a certain time frame and choose not to eat for a larger period during a certain day. There are different ways that people can follow intermittent fasting. One of them is trying to eat at a certain time period during the day on a regular basis. The time period can range from 4 to 6 hours each day. Outside of that range is when people try to fast. This can mean missing on a meal or two daily.

Another way of following intermittent fasting is by eating normally one day and then choosing a certain day to skip two meals. For example, if the last meal you ate was 8 pm, choose to fast the next day by skipping meals until the next 8 pm. Essentially you have not eaten for the chosen day to go through intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting can also be a period of fasting for any two days of every week.
