Olive Oil

Olive oil is considered to be a healthy fat-rich food. But the fats that it contains are considered as good for the body. It contains monounsaturated fats that helps strengthen the heart. Not only that, studies show that an olive oil-rich diet increases the levels of adiponectin in the body. This is a hormone that is known to be responsible for breaking down fats in the body.

Coconut

Coconuts are known to be high in saturated fats. But about more than half of that is lauric acid, a type of lipid that fights off bacteria as well as improves cholesterol levels. Studies show that coconut oil may even be effective in reducing abdominal obesity. Two groups of participants in a study were either given two tablespoons of coconut oil or soybean oil daily. While both groups experienced weight loss, those who took coconut oil showed significant waist shrinkage.

Dark Chocolate

Chocolate is known to have somewhat a mixed reception among people when it comes to whether chocolate is unhealthy or not. The fact is that it depends on the type of chocolate you eat. Dark chocolate is considered to be a healthier option and one that also helps in losing some excess weight. Scientists believe that the weight reducing properties of dark chocolate may come from pure cocoa butter, which contains digestion-slowing stearic acid. In this case, the body takes more time to process strearic acid which helps in reducing those hungry feelings, helping people to eventually lose weight.
