How to Avoid Emotional Eating

Have you noticed that women are troubled by great emotions, they tend to eat? This is not generalize but it a behavior that we notice. And us women, we are guilty of it.

When these pour of emotions crowd us, we begin to munch whatever we may find inside the refrigerator or we pig out with our girlfriends. We totally forget about how much calories we have taken in. By the end of the pig out we feel guilty, and bloated.

A way to battle this is having your mind have the power about these emotions. Let your mind dictate what you should and what you should not do. Another attack to losing weight is perceiving that we are slim for once we do, we will feel that way as much as we will work towards that direction.

Alexa Parson, a well known aromatherapist has suggested that we can set our mind by using oils. So whenever there is a gush of emotions surging in, set your mind and instead of eating those calorie dominated snacks and food, replace them of the following:

Oils that change your mood

  • Cravings– use vanilla
  • Stress– use jasmine, frankincense, ylang ylang, grapefruit, lavender, sandalwood, geranium, rose, bergamot, benzoin, vetiver, mandarin or roman chamomile.
  • Emotional baggage– use juniper berry
  • Uplift the spirits– use jasmine
  • Confidence– use bay laurel, bergamot, cypress, grapefruit, jasmine, rosemary or orange.
  • Depression– use may chang, frankincense, lemon, grapefruit, jasmine, clary sage, sandalwood, ylang ylang, geranium, orange, neroli (orange blossom) and helichrysum.
  • Insecurity– use frankincense, jasmine, sandalwood, vetiver, cedarwood and bergamot. 
  • Loneliness– use rose, clary sage, frankincense and helichrysum.
  • Happiness– use grapefruit, lemon, orange, rose, sandalwood and ylang ylang
