Ways Get Ride of Beer Belly

If your daily workout includes lifting cans of beer during happy hour and munching on chips, fries, and other greasy foods, it’s no surprise that you’ve gained belly fat. Unfortunately, losing that unsightly beer belly is not as easy and enjoyable as it was putting on. Well, that’s life – at its vicious best.

Having a beer belly means you have a high risk of health problems such as diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, abnormal lipids, and some types of cancer. So if your belly is hanging over your jeans, now is the time to take some action and lose that beer belly.

Cut down on your drinking

It would be very hard, but you have to cut down on your drinking. If you want the most radical reduction of belly fat in the quickest time possible, then stop drinking altogether. But this isn’t advisable because a sudden and drastic change of lifestyle may “shock” your body. Just do the cutting down gradually.

For example, drink beer only once or twice a week. Also, you have to reduce consumption of bar snacks and take-aways. In general, moderate drinking will make you less hungry and reduces your cravings for unhealthy foods.

Hit the gym, the pool, and the court

You need to get that body moving to lose belly flab. It’s a common misconception that sit-ups can flatten beer belly. In fact, while sit-ups strengthen abdominal muscles, it doesn’t reduce beer belly – belly fat sticks around on top of it.

To lose your beer belly, you must include in your program cardiovascular workout or aerobic exercises. Such programs will get you sweating and your heart pumping faster. Good examples of this type of workout include swimming, running, tennis, and cycling.

Exercise for about 30 minutes a day, 3 times weekly. While the training requires you to sweat a lot, it doesn’t mean that it has to be painful. You should start at a less intense pace, at a comfortable level. The trick here is to not to kill yourself.

Compensate

It’s OK to cheat a little sometimes, especially if there’s a Friday night out with your buddies. If you think you deserve it, then by all means, indulge. Compensate this by a four-minute intense workout. It will eat away at your belly fat after your exercise has finished, continuing throughout the whole day and even when sleeping.
