While some religions encourage fasting or abstinence a few times a year, experts think that living eating and drinking absolutely nothing twice a week might be dangerous.
Experts say that if you plan going for a whole day – a couple of times a week – without food or drink can be dangerous because it can cause dehydration and dangerously low blood sugar levels which can make you pass out.
However, experts say that if you are healthy, and if you still drink water, 100 percent fruit juices, and/or no-calorie beverages, you probably won’t be at risk for health consequences – if you only fast once a day, every once in a while, and not twice a week.
Experts though, still urge you to see your doctor. Understand that most of the weight lost will be water and muscle, not fat. Experts also suggest that, instead of going on a starvation diet, opt to change your eating habits instead.
