Healthy Snacks Under 200 Calories

Health experts recommend taking five to six light meals every day to keep your metabolism pumping.  This means that aside from your three basic meals containing between 400 to 500 calories each, you also need to take some snacks worth 100 calories.  However, it is difficult to find good foods that are within 100 calories aside from granola bars and apples, but that does not mean you cannot enjoy eating healthily at snacks that are more than 100 calories.  Here are some recommended hearty snacks everybody can enjoy.

Mini Chicken on Salsa

Put three ounces of chicken fillet on top of a small corn tortilla.  Sprinkle on two tablespoons of cheddar cheese and top with two tablespoons of salsa.  This snack only contains 189 calories with three grams fat.

Egg and Pretzels

Eat one hardboiled egg and three pretzel rods.  This snack contains 198 calories with six grams of fat.

Spiced Popcorn

Pop a bag of 100-calorie popcorn into the microwave, and then shake the bag with half a teaspoon of cumin, half a teaspoon garlic powder, and one-fourth teaspoon chili power.  This snack only has 100 calories with 3.5 grams of fat.

Celery sticks with dressing

This is even better than Buffalo wings! Dunk celery sticks onto two tablespoons of cheese dressing.  This simple snack only contains 90 calories and six grams of fat.

Pita with Hummus

Spread two tablespoons of hummus on a small whole-wheat pita.  This snack has 160 calories and 3.8 grams fat.

Cheesy Dunks

Dip a string cheese onto one-fourth cup marinara sauce.  This simple snack has only 95 calories and 3.8 grams of fat.

Chips and Salsa

Gather 15 baked tortilla chips on a plate and top it with half a cup of salsa.  It only contains 150 calories and two grams of fat.

Beans in a Pod

Steam a cup of edamame (soy beans in a pod).  Sprinkle it with sea salt, and then shell the pods before eating the beans.  Edamame only contains 179 calories and 7.5 grams of fat.

Bean and Guacamole Roll

Put one-fourth cup of crushed black beans, and top with one-fourth diced avocado and add two tablespoons salsa.  This dish contains 199 calories with 8.7 grams of fat.

Lettuce with Tuna

Mix three ounces of tuna with a teaspoon of lemon juice, and a tablespoon of light mayo.  Season it with black pepper.  Then, place the mixture onto a cup of lettuce leaves.  It only contains 144 calories with four grams of fat.

Creamy toast

Toast a slice of multigrain bread, and then spread it with a tablespoon of goat cheese and top with a sliced tomato.  This simple snack contains 133 calories and four grams of fat
