Where to Get Inexpensive Acai

The acai reportedly tastes like a cross between raspberries and chocolate. It has been a diet-staple in South America for years. A recent mention of the super fruit on Oprah had food and drug companies racing to come up with new products. Now, this formerly unheard of super fruit is a multimillion dollar industry. According to health.com, acai products can set you back more or less $40.

Acai is today’s "it" super food, thanks to all the nutrients it reportedly contains, plus all the health benefits it’s supposed to offer.

Some of the Acai’s health benefits include cancer prevention and weight loss. These benefits are supported by limited research. In A Study conducted by the University of Florida showed that extract from acai berries destroyed cultured human cancer cells.

However, some experts are still skeptical. Health.com’s resident dietitian Julie Upton says, "Just because it has a lot of antioxidants doesn’t mean any of them get into your blood or tissues. They need to be absorbable."

With limited studies to back up its claims, it’s best to hold out on spending your hard-earned cash on acai products. But, you can still sample some acai products that are relatively inexpensive, Try the following suggestions from health.com:
