Low-Calorie Summer Cocktails

Refreshing cocktails are bound to be part of the festivities in the summer. But if you’re not careful, you could add up to hundreds of hidden calories.

Here are four smart solutions from Hungry-Girl.com’s Lisa Lillien for cutting down on cocktail calories.

Mojito

  • 6 oz. diet lemon-lime soda
  • 12 mints leaves
  • ¼ lime, sliced
  • 1 ½ oz. Rum
  • 5 to 8 ice cubes

Pulverize mint and lime in glass.
Add soda and rum.
Stir well.
Add ice.
Garnish with mint and lime.

104 calories, you save 146 calories.

Margarita

  • 6 oz. diet lemon-lime soda
  • 1 ½ oz. Tequila
  • 1 packet sugar-free, lemonade-flavored powdered drink mix
  • 2 tbsp. lime juice
  • 5 to 8 ice cubes or 1 cup crushed ice

Stir first four ingredients together and pour over ice, or, for a frozen version, place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
Garnish with a lime wedge.

115 calories, you save 625 calories.

Pina Colada

  • 1 ½ oz. coconut rum
  • 1 ½ oz. sugar-free calorie-free coconut syrup
  • ¼ cup fat-free vanilla ice cream
  • 1 tbsp. canned crushed pineapple in juice
  • 1 packet no-calorie sweetener
  • 5 to 8 ice cubes or 1 cup crushed ice

Place all ingredients in blender.
Blend on high until mixture is smooth.

156 calories, you save 494 calories.

Daiquiri

  • 1 ½ oz. rum
  • 1 packet sugar-free strawberry flavored powdered drink mix
  • 3 frozen strawberries
  • 1 tbsp. lime juice
  • 5 to 8 ice cubes or 1 cup crushed ice

Dissolve drink mix into 4 oz. of water.
Stir thoroughly. In a blender, combine drink mixture with all other ingredients.
Blend to desired consistency.
