Workout: One-On-One Training with Jackie

Workout: One-on-One with JackieThe hit show on Bravo called “Work Out” features Jackie Warner, the owner of Sky Sport & Spa in Beverly Hills who has been touted as the top trainer for celebrities.  While not everyone can afford her $400-per-hour personal training, Warner has released a workout DVD that lets your train with her in the comfort of your own home for less than $15.

“Workout:  One-On-One Training with Jackie” consists of three routines lasting 20 minutes each.  Each workout focuses on a particular area of the body:  upper body, lower body, and the core muscle group.  Since it is in DVD format, you can either choose a single routine for a quick workout, or you can combine any two routines, or even do all three training sessions for a full-body workout.

Each segment consists of a unique warm-up that targets the joints and muscles you are about to use, the routine set that lasts between 30 to 60 seconds per interval, and a stretching and cooling-down session for the muscles you have just worked.  The routine combines strengthening and cardio exercises unique to the DVD as well as old-school favorites.

In each routine, Warner leads you through the moves while one of her trainers demonstrates how it is done.  She also informs about adjustments needed to make the exercise easier or even more difficult for you.  This method is very similar to a personal training session, referring to the trainer as yourself as Warner keeps you motivated, making sure you have the correct and safe posture, which many workout videos tend to overestimate.  She also encourages you to go at your own pace, make your movements slower, or modify your exercise when needed, but still pushes you to keep going.

Aside from the video, you also need a pair of dumbbells as well as an exercise mat to cushion your body as you lay down for a few floor exercises.  Start with a lighter weight if you are not used to weight training, especially because there are a lot of repetitions in each exercise.

The “Workout” DVD is recommended for men and women of all fitness levels.  You can get an expensive, top-of-the-line training at a really low price.  Regular practice can definitely give you good results.
