Drink more water daily.

Water helps keep your body hydrated and ensure that your metabolism is working at peak performance. Water is also filling and can help you feel full. It is virtually calorie-free so you will not feel guilty drinking lots of it.

Sit up straight.

Sitting up with your chin up, shoulders back and with your lower back set against the chair for support can actually help flatten your belly. Sitting straight tightens the stomach supporting muscles.

Avoid alcohol.

If you wish to maintain a flat belly, avoid alcohol. Alcohol can increase your cortisol levels, which is a stress hormone that can trigger your body to store belly fat.

Do crunches.

Crunches or sit-ups are the preferred exercise for your belly by strengthening abdominal muscles. Do a variety of crunches that can strengthen and develop the different abdominal muscles and help you maintain a flatter stomach.

Do some gardening.

If you are the type who does not exercise regularly, substituting for other activities may also be good enough. Gardening is a great alternative for using your abdominal and back muscles as you do a lot of bending, twisting and lifting. An hour of gardening can also help you burn up to 350 calories.
