How to Lose Flabs or Fat

Many people are hesitant to exercise or workout because they think that once they quit, they will gain back losing fatthe pounds they lost (or more) and that their bodies will return to being flabby.

Workout expert Rich Weil of WebMD says this is not the case.

Weil says you shouldn’t view it as an "all or nothing" process. He says that exercise is something that everyone ought to do to be healthy, and adds that you don’t have to go to the gym to get some exercise.

To know how much exercise is needed to attain optimum health, Weil outlines a typical exercise regime that is sure to make you lose or maintain your weight:

  1. 3-5 times per week of cardio for 20-60 minutes
  2. 2-3 days of resistance exercise
  3. one set of 8-10 exercises that condition the major muscle groups, 8-12 repetitions of each exercise

Exercise keeps the pounds off

Weil admits though, that exercise is the "single best predictor of keeping your weight off." He adds that if you want to lose weight and keep it off, you definitely have to do some exercise. Weil says that at least 30-40 minutes if cardio, 3-5 times a week plus some resistance training to keep up muscle mass will do. Again, you do not have to go to the gym to workout.

Muscle mass is very important. It’s not only for body builders and figure-conscious people, but for everyone. Muscle mass is important for metabolism, strength, bone density, and of course toning the body.

Lastly, the fitness expert suggests changing our perception about exercise – that it’s not something you do only when you need to fix something, and then once your problem is fixed, you quit doing it. Instead, view it as something that will help keep you healthy, fit and strong – and these benefits are things that you will enjoy for the rest of your life.
