Special K Challenge

Does eating cereals do help you lose weight? According to women who have tried the eating plan, it does work.

The Special K Challenge claims that with two bowls of Special K cereal each day, along with a simple dietary guideline, you can lose up to six pounds in just two weeks.

Replacing your meals with cereals

You begin a typical day with a bowl of Special K cereal with skim milk and fruit, then your lunch is replaced with another bowl of Special K. You then enjoy the dinner of your choosing, the healthier choice is preferable. Throughout the day you are snacking with healthy fruits in replacement of unhealthy junk food.

Aside from Special K, other Kellogg’s cereals are included in the diet plan such as Red Berries, Vanilla Almond, and Chocolatey Delight. There are also Kellogg’s snack bars, protein meals, cereal bars, and even "protein water" of different varieties.

Special K Challenge has an active community in Yahoo! Health that helps out each member in need of advice and motivation.

Other cereal brands in the mix

Not to be outdone in the marketing competition, Kraft has launched its "lose 10 pounds" challenge though its entire line of Post cereals. You need to decide which eating plan, and eventually which brand of cereal, to follow.

The risks with low calories

From your usual 2200 kcals a day, following the Special K Challenge would make you consume by as low as 1550 kcals a day. Although you eliminate a lot of fat calories in the diet, having your full with only a bowl of cereal a day is not an easy thing to do. If not monitored, such as consuming more protein, you might end up eating more.

Doctor’s advice is needed

A visit to the doctor is recommended before embarking on the eating plan, especially that it would drastically change your eating habits.
