McDonald's Diet

When Merab Morgan of North Carolina decided to go on a diet eating only nothing but fast food items at McDonald’s, a lot of people were in disbelief. Is that even possible? First and foremost, a Quarter Pounder with cheese, medium fried, medium-sized Coke, and an apple pie is equivalent to 1,240 calories.

The diet works by restricting yourself to just 1,400 calories a day. Morgan ate at McDonald’s three times everyday and over the course of her three-month diet, she lost over 30 pounds. The question is, what did she ate?

Before we continue, we would like to emphasize that this diet is not sponsored by the fast-food giant at all. A day of Morgan’s McDonald’s Diet includes a sausage burrito and medium Diet Coke (300 calories, all from the burrito) for breakfast, Cheeseburger (300 calories), and Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken (320 calories). The secret is all about eating light meals and controlled portions.

The idea, however, is not the first time that a McDonald’s customer was able to lose weight just by eating at their local fast-food store. A New Hampshire woman limited herself to just 2,000 calories a day while eating a McDonald’s and lost more than 35 pounds. Meanwhile, Don Gorske, a Guinness Record holder of eating the most number of Big Macs since the early 1970’s, stands at a slender 180 pounds at 6 feet even.

In contrast, filmmaker Morgan Spurlock filmed a documentary in 2004, which featured him eating only at McDonald’s for 30 days, and his belly expanded while his health climbed to dangerously high blood pressure, cholesterol, and other life-threatening illnesses.

While the McDonald’s Diet has its promise of losing weight just by eating fast-food, it is best that you consult your physician of possible health complications that you may experience.
