But eggs have also gotten some bad reputation due to increasing cholesterol fears among many people today. But if you eat an egg a day, there is no reason to be afraid of its cholesterol content. According to studies, eggs can help reduce the risk of cancer as well as heart disease. Antioxidants found in egg yolks helps reduce a person’s risk of in getting cancer. While cooking the eggs can reduce its antioxidant content by half, there is still enough to provide enough antioxidants as those found in apples.

Boosts Weight Loss

This may sound opposite to what people usually hear about eggs- that it is fattening. But a study conducted by the Rochester Center for Obesity Research seems to indicate that eating eggs can boost weight loss. One reason cited is that eating eggs for breakfast can help limit a person’s calorie intake throughout the day by an average of 400 calories. Eating eggs can make you feel full longer and less likely to give in to eating a mid-morning snack or eating more during lunch.

Lowers Blood Pressure

According to a study, the protein in eggs can help lower your blood pressure. The protein acts similar to an ACE or angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitor, which is a type of medication used to control hypertension. As it can lower blood pressure, eggs can also help reduce the risk of developing heart problems.

Prevents Breast Cancer

For women, eating eggs can also help prevent breast cancer. According to Harvard University researchers, women who eat at least six eggs per week had a 44 percent lower breast cancer risk than women who ate only two or fewer eggs per week. Another research from the University of North Carolina found that choline, which is found in egg yolks, can also reduce breast cancer risk by 24 percent.
