Jackie O. was the most stylish First Lady, probably ever. But Michelle Obama may be giving her a run for her money.
But apart from her style, the new First Lady is also creating much buzz about her svelte figure. Read on to know her secret to looking good in sleeveless.
Mrs. Obama puts importance on proper diet and exercise, stressing their physical and mental benefits.
The first lady talked to women about the importance of their well-being during her husbands campaign, saying that "We women often put ourselves last on our ‘to do’ lists, and we need to take better care of ourselves."
Michelle Obama devotes time for exercise. She goes to the gym 3 times a week where she works with a trainer for an hour.
According to some reports, when the First Family lived in Chicago, Michelle would join her friends for 4:30 workouts at the gym.
The always stylish first lady shared to Marie Claire that "Exercise is really important to me — it’s therapeutic. So if I’m ever feeling tense or stressed or like I’m about to have a meltdown, I’ll put on my iPod and head to the gym."
Cheryl Rucker-Whitaker, a friend of the first lady’s, told O Magazine that Michelle is "One of the women who leave you in the dust. She’s a gladiator. She jumps rope 200 times without messing up. We talk in the beginning, but once the workout gets going, she is all business."
Mrs. Obama also gets a workout from spending time with her family. The Obamas enjoy outdoor activities such as riding bikes and swimming. It’s also been reported that when she can’t get to the gym, she’ll go for a run with her daughters.
Michelle Obama also varies her workout routines. She mixes cardio with free weights, hitting the treadmill and stair-walking. And when the Obamas visited Hawaii, it was reported that the president and the first lady went to the Semper Fit Center on Marine Corps Base for a morning exercise together.
On an interview with people the previous summer, the first lady said that when she looks at the mirror, "she sees a healthy woman". Now how many of us can say that?
